The Path of Least Resistance: Honey Walnut Shaken Espresso
There are days when you need to stand firm, fight the hurricane, and be the unyielding Oak.
Then there are days when it is 80 degrees, your inbox is full, and you realize the Reed had the right idea: just lie down, let the storm blow over, and have an iced coffee.
We call this drink The Path of Least Resistance. It is a Honey Walnut Shaken Espresso built on our Resilient Roast. By shaking the hot coffee directly with honey and ice, you rapidly chill the brew and create a thick, aerated foam that feels incredibly luxurious.
It takes less than three minutes to make. Because honestly, fighting the universe takes too much energy.
The Ingredients
-
2 shots of espresso (or 1/2 cup of strongly brewed) Resilient Roast.
-
1 tbsp of real Honey. (Do not use the fake stuff shaped like a plastic bear; respect the bees).
-
1/2 cup of oat milk. (Its earthy profile perfectly amplifies the woody, pecan/walnut notes of the roast).
-
A handful of ice cubes.
-
A tiny pinch of sea salt.
Instructions
Step 1:
Brew your Resilient Roast coffee. You want it hot and concentrated so it can melt the honey.
Step 2:
In a cocktail shaker (or a mason jar with a very tight lid), combine the hot espresso, the honey, and the pinch of sea salt. Stir it once to dissolve the honey. Then, fill the jar with ice.
Seal it, and shake it violently for 15 seconds. You want to agitate the coffee until it becomes frothy and completely chilled.
Step 3:
Pour the entire contents of the shaker (ice and frothy coffee) into your favorite glass.
Step 4:
Top it off with the cold oat milk. Watch as the heavy milk cascades through the golden coffee foam.
Why It Works
The Resilient Bend Roast is a Medium-Dark blend anchored by heavy, roasted wood notes. When you add the honey and shake it over ice, you draw out the roast's hidden, snapping green apple acidity. It is rich, refreshing, and perfectly balanced.
